Welcome to Shakespeare Public School
Welcome to Shakespeare Public School where the focus is on student learning.
Shakespeare Public School was built in 1978. It is a Kindergarten to Grade Six School located a few blocks south of downtown Stratford. Shakespeare provides a positive, supportive environment for approximately 200 students and 19 dedicated staff members. The administration, teachers, and support staff work together to provide an atmosphere where children can grow in a caring learning environment.
Shakespeare has an active School Council. These individuals contribute a great deal to our school community through their support of the fundraising activities at our school. They also organize events throughout the school year and offer their ideas and input into decisions made at both the school and Board level. Our school appreciates their support and benefits from their expertise, energy, and commitment. New members are always welcome.
We offer many extra-curricular activities thanks to our staff and dedicated volunteers. There are many opportunities for students to get involved. We offer a variety of activities to our students. Activities involve sports teams, intramural sports, choirs, a chess club, and band. We encourage all of our students to be active and get involved.
Our initiatives this year will be to continue to focus on achievement in numeracy and literacy while emphasizing character development. During the coming weeks, we will be analyzing our data and targeting specific areas of need. We will be piloting a new program to the Board called Positive Behaviour Supports. In short, it is a school – wide plan to create clear expectations for our students and to reinforce them with positive messages and rewards. The program is currently in the planning stages and we hope to launch this program with the students in November.
If you are interested in getting involved at the school, please call. We are fortunate to have a team of parents, secondary students, and retired teachers who offer their time and expertise to enhance our school community. We offer many opportunities for volunteers, whether reading with a student, supervising a class trip, helping with Friday lunches, helping with the nutrition program, or helping with fundraising.
Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or administrative staff if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Dave Allely
Principal
